It was important to her to get the attention of politicians and get the government to adopt measures to curb the global warming. Swedish media covered Thunbergs protest and spread the word about her protest. In the following days, a plethora of students across the world joined her #FridaysforFuture strikes skipping school on Fridays to protest against climate change. Climate activists from all over the world took part in their efforts to organize the Global Strike for Climate. It was a huge success; more than 1.6million participants from more than 100 countries participated.
